Vial Storage and Cooling: Keeping Temperature-Sensitive Supplies Stable

June 10, 2026 · 6 min read

What insulated cases really deliver, how to test hold time yourself, and how to organise a fridge shelf you can actually audit.

Hold time claims need context

A case advertised at 72 hours is quoting a lab figure at a fixed ambient temperature with fully frozen packs. In a hot car it will do a fraction of that.

Treat the headline number as a ranking tool between products, not a promise about your trip.

Test your own case once

Put a cheap logging thermometer in the case with the packs you normally use, leave it in the environment you actually travel in, and read the result. One afternoon of testing tells you more than any listing.

Organise so you can count at a glance

An upright tray with a label strip turns stock-taking into a two-second look. Loose boxes hide expiry dates and encourage duplicate ordering.

Keep the tray away from the fridge door, where temperature swings are largest.
